Is anime humor an acquired taste?

Hello,

Being an American, I am so used to the comedy styles used here. Mainly political satire, social satire, all the different kinds of satire out there. That cynicism style of humor gets me every time. Different topics touched on and made fun of. I personally think it's great. I don't know if it's just my own preference, but no matter how open-minded I am and how much I try to enjoy comedy anime, I simply cannot do it. The same comedic elements are constantly reused and rehashed. From "accidentally" walking into a girl changing clothes, to a tsundere punching someone in the face, the physical violence is very cliche in anime. I don't feel any sense of uniqueness or originality with anime comedy. It's very bland, boring, and cliche.I am curious on people's takes regarding this, and how they go into anime comedy and how they view it. Does it become a slowly acquired taste after being exposed to American comedy for so long, or are they too different to the point that, once you are familiar with one style, the other becomes boring to you?

Headphone problem - with only one device.

Hello,

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD201 headphones, and when I plug them into my "first gen" Nexus 7 tablet, I only get audio in one ear (regardless of what app I'm using). When I plug the same headphones into another device (say, a laptop, an old iPod, or my Nexus 4 phone) the headphones get audio in both ears. So the headphones appear fine. When I plug a different set of headphones (Grados if that matters) into the Nexus 7, I get audio in both ears So the tablet appears fine. I'm left with two questions. What's going on? Why does this particular device and this particular headphone not like each other? If this is potentially "something relating to the tablet", and if I decided I wanted to buy another set of closed headphones (watching movies/Netflix in bed while the wife is asleep), what would I need watch out for to avoid having this problem with another set of headphones?

automatic mounting of CDs and DVDs does not work

Hello,

I am using mint Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa with Cinnamon. The automatic mounting of USB drives, SD cards and DVD/CD-Roms seems messed up. I have two issues: When I plug in an USB-Stick or insert a SD-Card to the internal card reader the automatic mounting of the drive seems to be done twice. The file folder is opened twice and I get an error message popping up indicating that it cannot mount the drive because it is already mounted. This is annoying but not a critical problem. When I insert a CD or DVD into the CD-drive (in fact is a BluRay drive actually) simply nothing happens. The drive is spinning up and then down again after some seconds. I would expect something to pop up or at least I would expect the CD volume appear in Nemo. But nothing happens. Now I can manually mount the CD or DVD to /cdrom with 'sudo mount /cdrom' and access tha data on the CD/DVD. But again nothing happens automatically. Anyone with an idea how to fix this ?

timing issues with MIDI - Motherboard Issue?

Hello,

I am turning my computer on, and start working. The midi is kind of OK (never really happy with midi performance in terms of real time recording on the new Cubase programs, but anyway) as time passes , the live midi recordings are appalling. Seriously...really out of time. I researched this and it turns out there is a problem between the internal Cubase clock versus the external motherboard clock. I read somewhere that some motherboards are better than others in order to eliminate this problem. I work constantly with MIDI and it is a serious pain to not be able quickly and efficiently put down what I am playing live. I don't work with pencil and record live with a keyboard. I am thinking in buying a PC from PC Specialists and are doing some great models but I am really concerned I will might buy a computer with a mother board that will be creating the same problems as the one I am having now.

VSK Graphic Card Probs - Card List & Workaro

Hello,

In various topics there have been reports of new Graphic Cards which cannot display VSK menus and prevent VSK being played. I thought it night be helpful to have a list of cards which have been reported to work and also those which have had problems. I'll update this list when I see new comments.Maybe it will help with decisions about new purchases and also I hope some technical guy can see what to do to fix it if possible. It seems to me it is not just about the new cards because it looks as if some newer cards work in certain PCs.Please anyone with good or bad experiences of new cards, let us know - then we can make the list more complete.

Please help.

Правила
